EVALUATION OF PARTICULATE MATTER (PM2.5 AND PM10) CONCENTRATIONS IN THE DRY AND WET SEASONS AS INDICES OF AIR QUALITY IN ENUGU URBAN, ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

The particulate matter (PM) is one of the major air pollutants emitted from various sources, having adverse effect on human health and environment. study evaluates concentrations PM2.5 PM10 pollution in Enugu Urban. were collected April 2018 to March 2019 using CASELLA CEL - 712 (Dust Detective). area was categorized under, industrial, commercial, high density residential, low residential areas control location a rural area. annual average concentration ranges 23.06 ± 1.53 153.23 28.73 µg/m3 for while ranged 37.49 3.75 336.49 47.05 µg/m3. almost all studied are above WHO limits PM2.5-25 50µ/m3. Therefore, residents exposed inhalable which may have risk environmental deterioration. This enrichment be attributed mostly activities. Adequate attention should given; periodic monitoring abatement measures must strictly adhered to.
